Comics: Once Upon a Trope

Mountain Hermit

Transcript

Monday

A hermit in faded robes and outgrown hair huddles at a mountain pass, staring blankly as he hugs his knees to his chest.

Tuesday

Huddled in the same place, the hermit brings a beetle to his open mouth.

Wednesday

The hermit is in the same huddled position on his side, sleeping.

Thursday

The shot zooms out to show a narrow bridge over the pass among rocky cliffs. The hermit stands tall at the end, wind sweeping his robes, as he holds out a thick staff. On the other side a young knight holds her sword.

Hermit: ONLY THE RIGHTEOUS MAY ENTER HERE. YOU SHALL BE TESTED!

Friday

Rain falls on the shivering, huddling hermit.

      It’s a hard life, being a hermit.

Can you please do one how in sci-fi movie’s the weirdest looking thing is always the most dangerous?

    • Chris Winkle

Do you want to give me some examples?

Unfortunately people have to recognize the trope for the jokes to work, so I can’t center comics on tropes that aren’t widely recognized. But if you give me some examples, I’ll see what I can do with it.
